Look at Me

Hi,
Haven't been around for a while... mainly because I have been feeling lazy.. and partly because I have been doing other things, like college work!

Here's what I wore the other day...

And here's what I've been slowly working on... I might do a separate post to show you what it means, if you're interested? Are you? It's for my exhibition at the end of the year.... but really it's only about 2 months away now. Oh, and I made those knitting needles :)

Day 12: Knitted Headband

Today I went shopping with my brother & Mr Peck and got a really cute top that I can wear with tights. Been looking for something like this for a while and happy I found this one. Got it on special for $30! Sweeeet!  I'll have to do an outfit post later this week... Later we watched the latest Pirates which was actually pretty good I thought! Few odd bits in it, like the freaky mermaids... what the?! But yeah, I enjoyed it!

For my creation today I decided to knit me a head band out of this lovely orange wool that I bought for my yarnbombing. I got a few bags of wool from the op shop for like $2 and this one was in there. Pretty cool, it's chunky and an awesome colour.

I knitted this up on size 8 needles in simple garter stitch and it was so so quick! And would be a great first project if you are just learning knitting. Let me know if you want me to tell you more!
I am sorry for the slightly scary picture. Sleep has been avoiding me, or maybe I it and my eyes are pretty crazy.... like red & baggy and stuff... plus I don't have makeup on so yeah. Photoshop Alert!! But just ignore me and look at the headband ok? Thanks.

Day 8: Yarnbombing

Well, I hope you came back to see what yesterday's creation is!
It wasn't really all yesterday's work but we'll pretend it was ok?!
So for the last semester I have been furiously knitting (in the spare moments I got) and working toward something big. ... .... .

Problem #1: I didn't actually have that much time because I did 4 subjects plus work for another which is happening in the holidays (an art tour to USA)

Problem #2: This work was for a subject that was only half practical and the other half was theory (I wrote a 3500 word paper) so I didn't realise I wouldn't have heaps of time.

Problem #3: I started a Master of Arts this semester and that took more time.

Conclusion: Don't try and knit something huge when you have less time than you think!

So, I ended up with a whole heaps less knitting that I would have liked... But here are the results. I am generally happy with how it turned out, just would have loved to have done more!

PS: I'm pretty sure my Superdry beanie is the bomb :)

Look at Me...trying to be happy

So tonight I was feeling particularly sad with the funeral tomorrow and practicing songs to play (on my clarinet) and Mr Peck helped to cheer me up with an impromptu photoshoot. Twas fun... unlike our usual shoots where I end up getting annoyed because I'm embarrassed etc but today I thought what the heck and went with it.

We did a few more than this but I thought I'd just share a few and maybe next time you can see the rest :) Both feature my very lovely new boots!

And now... a message from our sponsor (or not [because I don't have any].. but instead, a cool photo aand I knitted that aaand it's of Mr Peck... all the greatest things in life ;)

computer strike

Well I haven't been around for a little coz I'm on a computer strike.
I wanted to cut back on the hours of useless time wasting that's been happening and try and get some work done  and focus on the real world for a bit... Which has actually been going alright, but I feel like I haven't really gotten anything more than usual done.

Problem is, I kinda need my computer for work - being a graphic designer and all...
So today there's no avoiding it... It's photo editing time.

Oh, and guesssss whatttt!?
I finally managed to crochet something!! It's not finished yet. And there are a few little mistakes in it... But it's actually working and it's really not that difficult! I am totally surprised and pleased at how quick it is and how easy!

And, I am doing a college project that uses knitting... and a lot of it at that. Which is exciting but top secret and even my lecturer won't know about it until it happens! So excited... but means I will be doing A LOT of knitting! Will post a few pics as I go.

oh.

I'm feeling so uninspired!
All I want is some chunky chunky wool + some knitting needles then I'd be right.

from yokoo

Gotta say I love her chunky chunky knitting skills & crazy photos .. super dooper cute!

Today I went for a job trial/job thing. Which went well + I'm happy!
I kept praying for some work + this is an answer to prayer. Also tomorrow I have another interview. Hoping it goes well.

I also just sent out some emails about my cards + did some heavy but targeted facebook liking/commenting which gained me 3 fans right away.. so that looks like the go. I'll have to hit that up regularly + then maybe some will actually buy my cards! {I wish I could sound more pro + popular + say that I have sold billions. .. But that would be stretching the truth.. just a little itty bit}

Hmm..
So not much to share.
I was thinking in my head on the way back from said job that I should start learning how to code online shops + make me one of those.  I hand code all the websites I design + definitely need to keep teaching myself new tricks.

Oh. And the other thing that I have to code is a brand spankin' new website for Flashbox.
Mainly just for the wedding photography side of it. To make it more appealing + capturing.
And more weddingy. And show off our photography skills a little better.
Fun!

chunky knitting.

Ok, so I really have to get me some chunky chunky wool!!
Check out these beauties!

They would be super quick to knit as well... that's going straight to the top of the never ending to do list!
And PS I have decided that StumbleUpon is amazingly great for inspiration! {and also time wasting...}

more wool love!

Was reading Dandee, and one of the images used for her "Thirty Days of Kindness" posts made me smile and follow the source link...

Lovely chunky knit... Almost makes me want cold weather... almost.

I traced the image back to Sunday in bed (who took it from someone else I think), a Tumblr account, and found a few more super things!

Also found these cool rings from Lunaticart on Etsy

I better go now, I'm making Lemon Meringue Slice.... for Mr Peck :)

hello hello knitted stools.

Was browsing through the style files thinking about my previous posts on knitted furniture and found these stools by Claire-Anne O'Brien... how random that I was just thinking about a similar thing hehe..

A quote from her website in explination:
Claire-anne O' Brien is an Irish designer, based in London and a recent graduate of the Royal College of Art [2010]. Combining a longstanding passion for textiles with product and furniture design, sculptural and playful knits explore the boundaries of form and function. Though traditionally associated with garment making, knittings unique structural and decorative qualities, such as circular knitting and its endless combinations of stitches, means it has many exciting possibilities in other areas of design. In a play on scale, the very structures of knitting itself are celebrated -such as loops and tubes- and used as building blocks from which to construct 3d forms with. Complimenting these forms with a sensitivity to materials and attention to detail, to create exciting handmade interior pieces.
Pretty interesting pieces :)

Hedgehogs...

Hello.

I have only just realised that hedgehogs are so super cute!

I'm working on my surrealism studio work and one of my pieces of automated writing (that I'm basing my works on) says this: "bricks bound to hedgehogs and flies with matchstick wings". So instead of lino printing this one I thought it would nice to make it into some type of sculpture... but how does one create a hedgehog or a fly with matchstick wings? Well, first I thought to sew a hedgehog but after trying and trying and trying to put together a suitable pattern and then realising I don't have any suitable brown material I decided to do a google image search.

And I kept coming across this one image (or variations of it):

He is just soooo super cute I thought.. well, I'll just knit one - perfect :)
So I bought the pattern and made one...

Sorry for the bad photography, it's so dark here coz it's raiiiinnning... it's only 4 o'clock!

I didn't have the exact type of wool I would have liked but I think he's cute anyway :) [I kinda think he needs ears though]

So now I just have to get a bit of brick and bind it to him! And maybe make a few more coz they are soooo cute!! Now I think I'm obsessed with owls and hedgehogs! hehe
