Ping....

I forgot how much I love UP! I was watching it while I did my knitting.. So cute. My favourite quote is:
"I was hiding under your porch because I love you!" - Dug
And all through the movie I was thinking of this. This guy is so clever!

And... While you listen, here are a few of my recent pins

Blog Design

So... What do you think?

It makes me happy, especially all the yellow :)

I watched Megamind last night with Mr Peck and had a few good laughs... I thought it was pretty funny..(or maybe it was because we finished watching at 2am). I really enjoyed Megamind's mispronunciations.. Like the way he says 'Metrocity' not 'Metro City', 'Speeider', and my personal favourite - 'Ollo!'  hehe so good.

I also watched "The Tree", yet another great Australian film! I'm proud of Australian cinema at the moment! My favourite thing from this movie (apart from the fact that it had Marton Csokas - a favourite from South Solitary) was the music played during the credits and menu. Here it is for you to enjoy.

3 Aussie films & a fiesta.

Is it just me or are Australian films making a comeback?!
I'm starting to love Australian films almost as much as French films.. and that's saying a lot!

I just watched Summer Coda and loved it!

Pair that with Tomorrow When the War Began and The Black Balloon (another two of my favs) and you have some pretty amazing watching.  And the thing I like about Aussie films is that they are so real, about real issues (well perhaps not Tomorrow but who in Australia didn't grow up reading those books?!). And the cinematography is top notch along with killer soundtracks and amazing Australian actors. What's not to love?!

Anyway.. Yesterday Mr Peck threw me a fiesta complete with piƱata and pin the tail on the donkey and a icecream cake! I felt like a little kid again.. so much fun! Here are some highlights!

Today he had one last surprise for me (I can't believe how much he's spoiling me lately!!) and that is a 2 hour shopping trip with a stylist! Pretty exciting!! Because if you know me, you'll know that I'm not very stylish and I wish I was... so hopefully this will help me! Yay!!

Once.

Hello.
Today I had a lunch with family for my birthday which is on Monday.
I am turning 23. I don't feel that old sometimes, and other times, every bit that old.

Mr Peck went to a college social tonight and I didn't feel like it.
To occupy myself, I have been watching a movie.

It was called 'Once', directed by John Carney.

I didn't know what to expect. I got it from the movie hire place randomly, didn't really read the back and didn't really know what it was about. It started and I thought hmm, looks kinda low budgety and dorky.
It kept going and I kept watching, fixated.

Gotta say, definitely become one of my favourites.. not just the story - of which there wasn't a whole lot going on (but of what there was, it was heartfelt and interesting). What really had me was the music. The whole movie was focused on a guy who was a busker, a girl who brought him a vacuum cleaner to fix and the music they made.

And the music - totally amazing and touching.
It made me want to write songs again, and be that good at it! And be able to sing...

Here's the main song from the movie.

Oh, but there are so many good ones! Totally recommend Youtubing it!

Jean-Pierre Jeunet's Micmacs

The other day Mr Peck and I watched a movie by Jean-Pierre Jeunet called Micmacs.

You may know Jeunet as the director of Amelie [my all time favourite movie] or A Very Long Engagement [also very good] or you might not know him at all [because his movies are in French - which in my opinion are the most interesting/quirky/thought-provoking/cool movies out there].

If you don't know these movies I suggest you watch them! :)

Micmacs [like Amelie] was a fun quirky film about Bazil, a guy who gets a bullet randomly lodged in his head and goes about bringing the weapons company which made the bullet down.

It is full of fun, interesting characters including Calculator, a math expert and statistician, Buster, a record-holder in human cannonball feats, Tiny Pete, an artistic craftsman of automatons, and Elastic Girl, a sassy contortionist.

The film is full of the quirky humor Jeunet has become known for as well as some beautiful imagery and ideas. I loved the last scene in which Tiny Pete creates a floating dress [but I can't find any pictures of it]

It is such a creative film and has definitely become one of my favourites!
